Author: Asher Wolfstein

I'm a wunk (half-wolf half-skunk) anthromorph from the future that's stuck here in the past. Throughout my travels, I've learned that being true to yourself is one of the most important things you can do. I write here about my life, interests, projects, observations, struggles, and whatever catches my fancy. My projects are generally concerned with websites, video game design/programming, and costuming. I study Japanese, read technical books and manga, hang out with friends, and play games for fun. You can sometimes find me virtually on Second Life as kadar.talbot where I head up Original Pursuits LLC's virtual office.

Twenty-Four Years Later: The Original Pursuits Society

Founded in 2000, The Clasheerian Order (TCO) was dedicated to empowering creative individuals and promoting 'Quality Art.' Its initially declared ambition was overshadowed as fostering art creation and appreciation and making individuals creative became its de facto goal due to resource constraints, eventually leading to the organization's unsustainability. Asher Wolfstein believes that despite the lack of technological aids like social media at the time, TCO's reach was a result of its members' passion. Learning from TCO's experience, Wolfstein, with Maus Merryjest, has founded the Original Pursuits Society (OPS) to sustainably empower creatives. They also established Original Pursuits LLC, with the "Be Gay. Do Crime." initiative to use profits for philanthropic support of creative endeavors, rejecting traditional profit investment models in favor of open-source development and knowledge democratization. This new venture welcomes active participation to drive its mission of supporting individual creativity.

Scammers On Instagram

I manage my mother's business Instagram. My mother is, if a son may say, quite a catch (I am inclined to imagine). Smart, classy, attractive, and youthful, she's the Mom who's got it going on. Well, because of that sometimes she's gets strange attention on Instagram and Facebook from, well, some interesting characters. It's also because it's a business, and that it's the internet, and that she's a woman on the internet, and because people generally suck. Well, yesterday, my mother's business got a bunch of likes on her pictures and a comment saying to check her messages. Well, lo and behold, we had Gerald. And what does Gerald have to say for himself? Well, folks, it's a wild ride... (mostly because of me).

Pegasus Intellectual Capital Solutions: “You’re A Pedophile!”

We've entered a brave new world folks. Cultural norms are changing, particularly online, and people are more emboldened than ever to spout whatever bizarre thing they think because they think there won't be any consequences. Unfortunately for them, echo chambers are entirely virtual, and reality has an annoying way of getting in the way. Today's subject is Pegasus Intellectual Capital Solutions, a "boutique investment firm" headed up by Charles Smith as the "Managing Partner." I get the impression that this used to be a reputable company that did reputable business for a while, and then something strange happened. It got infected with the conservative mind-virus going around. Just look at its business Twitter account.

The Golden Girls Codex

So one day, I was watching The Golden Girls. Since then, I've watched The Golden Girls many many many (channeling Blanche Deveroux here) times. I was looking at the subtitles of the episodes (on the DVD) and realized that those subtitles weren't entirely accurate. I've seen the subtitles throughout the series, and I noticed that some of the jokes and other things were actually truncated in the subtitles. So, I started writing down the episode myself in a notebook. I transcribed the first three episodes in a notebook by hand. That took a while!

TCX At NDK 2003

This was originally published on my first website (probably Infinite Gmork) sometime around 2005 or 2006. This chronicled the time that TCX (what The Clasheerian Order eventually turned into) went to Nan Desu Kan (NDK) in Denver in 2003. I was fresh out of high school and so were many of my friends (featured in the pictures). Here was what was originally written.

On A PodCast/Radio Show: It’s Not Therapy With Liana Kerzner

I'm a featured guest on a podcast about mental health called It's Not Therapy hosted by Liana Kerzner of Canadian fame. The first part features an interview with an doctor/author who has written about the disorder. In the second part, I talk about having Borderline Personality Disorder, particularly being diagnosed, and what it's like including the stigma.

Learn to Program with Asher @ FurDev

I developed this site when I was still in the throes of a terrible OCD-like anxiety-ridden depression (which seems to happen far more often than it should). At the time, it was (and still is) the worst depression I've ever experienced. It lasted for two-and-a-half years and took over a decade to recover from. I was living in Fort Collins, Colorado when it first hit, and I got to a point where, even with Maus living with me, I could no longer really take care of myself. I had to move, along with Maus, back to my childhood home in the semi-rural mountains.

TCX 2004 Message Board

Every single person on this forum grew up and went their separate ways. TCX quickly dissolved into obscurity. I gave the whole thing life (with help from everyone else), and I guess I pulled the plug and drained it all away. I think that maybe I was premature in that decision. I look back on it now with bittersweetness. I think that I made a mistake. All we have now really is the shared memory of these bygone times. They weren't always pretty, but sometimes, they were the best.
