Pokémon GO Round Up 18 And Farewell

My involvement with Pokémon GO has definitely waned. That’s why this is Round Up 18 AND Farewell. In the time that the app has been out there have been a lot of features added, and people have achieved very high levels (I follow someone who is in level 40!) There have also been a lot of additions to the number and variety of Pokémon that you can catch. There are now even “Raid Battles” which I don’t entirely understand, though I was never big in the gym dominance scene of the game. I guess you can catch rare Pokémon this way and fight alongside other real life people? Either way, the game has expanded and matured quite a bit, and I haven’t kept up with it. If I’m going to do an on-going series on a game, I’d like my posts to actually have something even a smidgen compelling on them, and I don’t feel like I can really do that with Pokémon anymore. It might be different if I participated in raid battles and caught new Pokémon in new areas on a daily basis, but, I just don’t really do that anymore.  So in all, as previously written, Pokémon GO has been a bit of an experience. It was a good experience, and someday I hope to do Let’s Play Classics on the Pokémon video games.

It’s been a long time since my last round up.  I was going through the screenshots and pictures on my phone in preparation for this post and realized I hadn’t done a Pokémon update since July of 2017.  That’s a very long time!  In that span of time I did play Pokémon GO a bit, but not a ton.  However, in that process I did gain a level, which put me at level 23:

I also discovered several new Pokémon in that time, and they got added to my Pokédex.  These included a Horsea, Miltank, Machop, Squirtle, Lotad, Flaaffy, and Wooper:

I also hatched some eggs as well, three of which ended up also as new Pokémon, Poliwag, Phanphy, and Gastly:

There were a couple other hatchings as well involving a Geodude and a Ponyta:

One that I was particularly excited about was my Growlithe.  It hatched and I  decided at that point to try an evolution, turning it into an Arcanine!  Here you can see the progression of events:

Yeah, Arcanine was a new Pokémon for me.  I told you, I’ve rarely played since July of 2017!  Anyways, another weird experience for me was when I fought this really powerful generic creature (I can’t remember which Pokémon it was), which was unusual because they aren’t usually very powerful.  Then all of a sudden the screen changed and I discovered this strange Pokémon:

That’s right, I did get a Ditto.  I don’t know how rare these are, but I’m guessing they’re at least a little rare, given the special circumstances.  But I don’t know.  As you can see the Pokémon is not strong with this one.

Well, those were the highlights of my catches and experiences in the last eight months.  That’s right, I gawk when I write that, eight months? Sheesh, no wonder I’m saying goodbye.  I saw a young kid in Starbucks, one of my favorite hangouts, doing Pokémon GO and he had like a whole calculator deal that told him all the stats and stuff.  Wow!  The rest of the pics here are highlights of all my catches (being the Pokémon of that type with the highest combat points in that span of time) since July:

I have to say that my favorites among these are the following: Teddiursa (so cute), and Furret (even cuter, and an evolution of Sentret).  I picture them below by themselves, so bask in their cuteness!

So there you have it, that’s the presumed last post of Pokémon GO that I’ll be making.  It was a fun game, but I just couldn’t keep up with the updates and am afraid that I don’t have too many interesting Pokémon to show.  I also am not too involved in the more social aspects of the game such as the raid battles (I still don’t quite understand them.)  As I wrote above, perhaps I’ll do Let’s Play Classics eventually on the Pokémon series of video games.

Well, I guess I can write, try to catch ’em all!
